City of ManassasManassas Welcome

  • Ben Lomond Manor House & Old Rose Garden - The Manor (1837) is believed to have been occupied by both Confederate and Union Troops as a wartime hospital. Today one of the largest collections of antique roses adorns the once desolate grounds.

  • Historic Prince William County Courthouse (1893) - The grounds of this romanesque revival building were the site of the historic 1911 Peace Jubilee, where survivors of the Confederate and Union armies met and shook hands on the field where they were once locked in mortal combat. Interior under renovation.

  • Confederate Cemetery - In 1867 an acre of land was donated for a Southern soldiers resting place. A year later more than 250 men had been laid to rest there.

  • We are currently restoring an 1825 plantation house that was built by a Carter family descendant. The plantation lands were once part of the 330,000 acre holdings of Robert "King" Carter. The Museum System also has: two Civil War earthwork forts, an 1890's School for African-Americans, an 1890's Southern RR Train Depot, and 1908 Candy Factory.
